On December 28, 2013 Alan approached me backstage just before a Blue October show being held here in Houston and said he wanted to ask a question. Uh oh. I immediately thought I was in trouble. It was like being asked to the Principle’s Office. He began to tell me about a road trip he wants to take from Texas to Colorado and back camping the entire way on a BMW Dualsport motorcycle. I thought it sounded awesome but wasn’t quite sure where this was going. Then he asked if Libby (my ’87 Vanagon Westfalia) and I would be interested in making this trek with them. Uhhh… YES!!!
Alan, Colter, Ryan or Floyd didn’t own a dualsport motorcycle at this point so me being asked to come along made me the only one that was already ready to go!
So fast forward… A full year later to December 31, 2014. Here we are before another Blue October show held here in Houston and we finally have the entire DasMotoClub group assembled for a group photo. lol. I know right… We’ve tried meeting up several times throughout the year and have always had something come up were not everyone could make it.
As of now, everyone has already purchased their motorcycles and have them outfitted for the trip with maybe 1 or 2 more people being added to the group at a later date. We’re still trying to twist their arm errrr… I mean persuade them into coming along. So here’s the complete group that will be trekking from Texas to and across Colorado and back as we stand now. L to R.
Abel Longoria – 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia
Colter Hall – 2009 BMW F650GS
Alan Adams – 2014 BMW F700GS
Ryan Delahoussaye – 2014 BMW G650GS
Floyd Clemence – 2008 BMW R1200GS
Originally I was invited to come along on the trip so I can act as a Support Vehicle for the group but I after I accepted I told them that my Vanagon is nearly 30 years old so they will more than likely be supporting ME! Hehe
