Colter is officially in! He purchased this nice Flame Red 2009 BMW F650GS yesterday while in Austin, TX and Alski was there to document the purchase. I knew they were headed to the dealership but I was under the impression Colter was going to get sized for a bike, ya know test ride a couple and see which mode/size engine felt comfortable in order to know which route to take once he got off tour. Little did I know he was ready to buy!
Colter’s F650GS comes with ABS brakes, Heated Hand grips and 3 different sized windscreens as factory options. The aftermarket extras that a previous owner installed is a nice sized Givi Trunk as well as Givi Side Pannier mounts for future expansion which he will definitely be needing for the Colorado 2015 road trip. A set of SW-Motech Safety Bars round out the bike and help protect the bike in case of an accidental lay down while offroad.
It’s amazing to see what was Alski’s “idea” back in December 2013 (link here) has now become a reality in March 2014. All 4 guys in the group having signed papers on a BMW dualsport motorcycle in preparation for the upcoming Colorado 2015 Trip. Colter was the last DMC member we were waiting for to pull the trigger on a bike and he didn’t disappoint. Congrats on the new ride Colter! She’s a beauty!
I know all of the guys are just as excited as I am about the group being complete and can’t wait to get some shakedown trips under our belt. The tough part for Alski, Colter and Ryan will be being on tour for the next month or so while their newly purchased bikes are sitting at home in the garage begging for upgrades and to be outfitted.
I know if I were on tour I’d be a complete Amazon.com Junkie ordering stuff left and right and there would be a stock pile of packages waiting for me once I got home. lol. I’m looking forward to our first full DMC Camping Trip this summer… We need to plan NOW!
